Key Stage 2

KEY STAGE 2
Key Stage 2 at DESS Primary will involve Years 3 to 6 students (ages 7-11), who we will guide gently through a syllabus and programme of activities designed to prepare them for the transition to secondary school and ignite a passion for learning that we hope can last a lifetime.
Our KS2 curriculum will build on the foundations laid in KS1, with learning tailored to each child's development pace and starting point. The educational journey will be collaborative, with parents encouraged to be involved.
Guided by the National Curriculum for England and Wales, we will build a deep understanding of subjects and experiences, and our use of technology will encourage students to become independent, curious, and passionate learners.
Leadership opportunities will expand in KS2, allowing children to take on responsibilities that will contribute to school life and community.
Our core curriculum will be supplemented by a range of extracurricular options and events across sport, performing arts, languages, and academia.
At the heart of KS2 will be our ethos of inclusion, tolerance, respect, and kindness. As children develop a stronger sense of self and their place in the world, they will engage in discussions, debates, and activism, seeing themselves as global guardians. We believe this builds an early sense of independence and positive global citizenship.
To prospective families, we want to say that DESS Academic City will be a community where happiness will thrive, and new members will feel instantly welcomed and valued.
