Welcome from the Head of School
I am so proud to welcome you to DESS College, a vibrant, diverse, international community that puts all of its awe-inspiring students at the very heart of everything that we do.
What is it that we are trying to achieve here? You will find phrases and mottos emblazoned throughout our world class facilities, but the answer is more simple than you would think.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website where you can find out everything about life at DESS College. However, to get a true ‘feel’ of the College we would also encourage you to book a tour and see the College in action. DESS College is a not-for-profit, inclusive College that follows the English National Curriculum (GCSE, A level and BTEC). Our fully inclusive ethos, which means we do not select students purely on academic attainment, is fully supported by our Board of Trustees. We have no owners, other than every student, and as such we are able to invest every dirham back into the College, keeping the students’ experiences at the centre of our goals and vision.
Our students originate from over seventy different countries and this blend of cultures and backgrounds helps to foster an environment of confidence and high performance, which drives our students to be the very best versions of themselves. Leadership skills are nurtured and developed in students throughout the College; they are caring, polite and grounded and conduct themselves with maturity and good manners. Our students really are our strongest advocates.
Student wellbeing and welfare sit at the core of our provision. The level of care offered to our students is second to none; our House system provides a core of pastoral care at DESS College and students are able to develop their character and social skills on a daily basis. We guide and advise students of all ages so that they receive the right information at key transitional moments in their educational careers, so that they are equipped to make the best decisions about their own future pathways.
The constant drive to improve, alongside first-class pastoral care, enables all members of the DESS College community to follow our motto: Dare, Excel, Share and Create.
Teaching and Learning is our core business at DESS College and we are immensely proud of the engaging curriculum that we have in place. DESS College staff motivate and inspire students by designing engaging, well-planned, personalised experiences. Our teachers build excellent relationships and enrich the experiences of our students by organising a broad range of activities, both here in Dubai and around the globe, through the mediums of sport, performing arts, technology and enterprise. Lessons at DESS College are challenging, however, we aim to support all students to make excellent progress throughout their studies.
By following the DESS College way, assessment outcomes are consistently of a high standard. We are exceptionally proud of our examination results, which have reflected consistently over the years the progress made by our students from their academic starting points. These results put DESS College amongst the best international schools in the region and around the world.
At DESS College when barriers to learning are removed and students are inspired to persevere, there really is no limit to what can be achieved.
Our vision is to become a center of excellence for education both within the UAE as well as on the global landscape. We are fully compliant with all statutory requirements and are dedicated to developing every aspect of the College, including those that would not normally be part of the curriculum in a British school in the UK. We firmly support the goals and vision of the UAE so that it develops a reputation for being a world leader in education.
So, what are we trying to achieve at DESS College? The simple answer is that we are trying to create great people - wonderful, confident, brave young adults who are well equipped to face the challenges of their futures.

Examinations
We do not select our students on an academic basis yet we are regularly ranked amongst the best International Schools for our examination results. Students at DESS College achieve outstanding examination results due to the solid foundation given to them by their teachers throughout their time at the College.
At DESS College, students sit some GCSEs in Year 10 (Science and English), however, most GCSEs are taken in Year 11. Currently, students take their A levels at the end of Year 13. Some students in the Sixth Form are enrolled on BTEC qualifications that have more of a portfolio-based assessment structure.
